HOW TO KEEP YOUR INBOX ZERO

1

(1) Use multiple emails accounts.
Separate subcriptions, work, personal or categorize by company.

Doing this will remove clutter and enable you to work one type of thing at a time. The unimportant emails will be separated from the necessities which is a good thing.

(2) Use an email app similar to Mail for mac or outlook for pc. Set-up several inboxes to manage. Get mail all at once and tackle important emails only.

(3) Check your email only once in the am and once in the pm. Don't try to do it every 15 minutes. Answering emails in bulk creates momentum and focus.

(4) Unsubscribe. May it was interesting at first but now its not anymore. There is always a way out... Unsubscribe.

(5) Have an email account just for "give away". You give this away to people you don't know, subscriptions you're not sure of or to sales people offering you something. Check it only when you have the time to spare.

Daniel John,
Great post! I like #3 and #4. I like #3 because I am thinking of doing it or something to that degree and #4 because unsubscribing is truly one of the best steps to keep mails to a minimum.

I keep my inbox zero by deciding every time I receive an email if if it's actionable or not. If it's not actionable I ask if it's a reference. If it's not a reference (and I do not perceive any future action related to it) I hit the DELETE key. This way my inbox will contain all items that I need to act on.
